Natura 2000 site: Site of Community Importance / Special Area of Conservation (EU Habitats Directive). Site ES1300004 "Dunas de Liencres y Estuario del Pas", 545 ha.

Protected habitats: Mudflats and sandflats not covered by seawater at low tide (179 ha); Estuaries (45 ha); Vegetated sea cliffs of the Atlantic and Baltic Coasts (30 ha); Shifting dunes along the shoreline with Ammophila arenaria ("white dunes") (21 ha); Fixed coastal dunes with herbaceous vegetation ("grey dunes") (12 ha) *. 11 habitat types listed for the site, 2 of them priority types (*).
